C.Y. Lee’s The Flower Drum Song (Farrar, Straus and Cudahy) and Jack Kerouac’s On the Road (Viking Press) were published in 1957. Around that time, Lee was photographed with poet Ruth Weiss and two others. This photograph (at 38:43) was in the 2019 documentary, Ruth Weiss: The Beat Goddess, by Melody C. Miller, and can be viewed on YouTube. In the closing credits, I did not see Lee’s name attached to a photograph.
